Nacho Vinuela. Yoga Teacher in Scotland. Teaches Hatha Yoga and Gentle Years Yoga

Nacho Vinuela

I am a yoga teacher based in Fife and Edinburgh (Scotland).

I started practicing yoga over 20 years ago, initially as a way of combatting stress and anxiety, but soon I realised I got a lot more into the bargain! Yoga made me feel at home in my body, in a way that was transformative. As my practice developed, I begun to feel more grounded, mindful, strong and more meaningfully connected to the world. Over the years my relationship with yoga evolved from attending a weekly class to becoming a life-style, a way of being. As my passion grew so did my drive to bring yoga to others. Inspired and encouraged by one of my teachers, I decided to enrol on a teacher training programme.

I completed a 500h Teacher Training Diploma from Yoga Scotland, the governing body for yoga in Scotland. This is one of the most highly regarded teacher training qualifications in the UK. Training with Yoga Scotland during the two years of the course gave me an opportunity to practice, absorb and reflect and gave me the confidence to teach from a place which feels genuine. Before I knew it I was running hatha yoga classes in my local community.

One of my major drives as a yoga teacher is to make yoga accessible to everyone, especially to those who could really benefit from it, but may have no access to a class that caters for their specific needs.

This is the reason why I completed the excellent 200h Certificate on Teaching Gentle Years Yoga (GYY) with the British Wheel of Yoga. The GYY programme is chair based and adapted for older adults with age-related conditions and mobility issues. Teaching GYY has been extremely rewarding as I have been able to observe first-hand how yoga helps older adults in many ways, from reducing their anxiety and stress to increasing their mobility and strength as well as the social benefit of taking part in a group class.

I am currently studying Pranayama with Phillip Xerri and Asana with Judy Cameron.
